History
The Sunshine Run has
been a part of St. John’s for 28 years. Launched in 1979, the Sunshine Run
was one of the area’s first major running events. Growing from a few hundred St.
John’s co-workers to 2,100 in 2007. It has expanded to include three
events: St. John's Clinic - Orthopedic Specialists 10K walk/run; Murney Associates 5K walk/run and the KTXR 1-mile
Walk with the Gentle Giant. The purpose of the run goes beyond race-day
activities, to a mission of increasing community awareness and support for
health and wellness. Proceeds from the run benefit St. John's Burn Center
and other local charities aimed at making healthy living a reality.

the original race event, benefits the St. John’s Burn Center. In 2007 the

approximately 300 inpatients admissions and 2,000 outpatient treatments
every year. Proceeds from the 10K help patients receive the healthcare
services at the region’s only
