About 1,800 people participated Saturday, Oct. 10 for the 29th Annual St. John's Sunshine Run at Hammons Field. Organizers expect to top the $40,000 raised last year. Proceeds benefit St. John's Burn Center, the region's only burn unit and Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.

Nearly 200 volunteers helped stage race weekend activities that included a pre-race motivational speech by 1976 Olympic decathlon champion Bruce Jenner presented by MultiPlan Friday night and St. John's Clinic-Orthopedic Specialists 10K; Murney Associates 5K and KTXR 1-Mile "Walk With the Gentle Giant" Saturday.
