Community-Acquired Pneumonia
Community-acquired
pneumonia (CAP) is America’s sixth most common cause of death. Annually, 2-3 million cases of CAP result in 100,000 physician visits,
500,000 hospitalizations and 45,000 deaths.
The following indicators relate to pneumonia that started prior to
hospital admission. The indicators examine initial treatments and
specific measures taken to help reduce the likelihood of future
complications and additional hospitalizations.
