Janet Jordan, M.D., named Frank Mitchell Physician of the Year at MEMSA annual conference
Aug. 23, 2007

Dr. Janet Jordan was awarded the “Frank Mitchell Physician of the Year” at the Missouri Emergency Medical Services Association’s (MEMSA) annual conference.  Dr. Jordan is an emergency physician who has worked in the Emergency Trauma Center at St. John’s for 16 years. She has served as  EMS medical director for over 10 years.

Dr. Jordan is the medical director for St. John’s EMS education programs and the EMS Dispatch Center, which  provides service to the ground and flight programs.

“Dr. Jordan represents the EMS system on a variety of Health System service lines and ensures that our plans integrate into the “big picture,” says Bob Patterson EMS director, “She has dedicated office hours during which she meets with her EMS colleagues in the pursuit of improving our system.”

Dr. Jordan facilitates cutting edge protocols that are the example for many EMS systems in the state. She regularly attends EMS Managers meetings and participates in the development and implementation of policy and procedure.

She visits St. John’s EMS facilities at least twice each year during the celebration of “Mercy Day” and “EMS Week.” The visit to the services takes three complete days of travel and she does so without hesitation each year looking forward to meeting with all her EMS colleagues at their home departments.

“St. John’s is one of the most progressive systems in the nation and we provide the highest quality of care”, said Dr. Jordan. “The award is a reflection of this quality of care, and I am proud to be a part of it.”

Dr. Jordan received her medical degree from the University of Kansas Medical School in 1987 and completed her Residency at Truman Medical Center – West in 1990.  She is active in disaster preparedness efforts and community service projects such as Katrina deployment, medical mission trip to Nicaragua, Springfield Public School’s health screening and docudramas.
