ST. JOHN’S HEART MONTH EVENTS

 

St. John’s is celebrating February, national Heart Month, by offering a variety of activities to help the public learn about the latest advances in medicine, get tips and strategies to stay healthy, eat well and exercise right.

 

Heart Risk Assessments

Throughout the month of February
 

Heart Risk Assessments help identify individual risk factors and provide tips to get you back on the path to a healthy heart.  Fasting is required for blood work including total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides & blood glucose levels.  Measurement of weight, percentage of body fat, body mass index, blood pressure, heart rate and a review of personal health habits are included.

 

Assessments are $35. To schedule an appointment, call 417-820-3666 or 800-200-9000. Those scheduling during the month of February receive a $10 gift certificate to attend one cooking school class.

 

 

Cooking School Class: The Lover's Heart - Italian Made Healthy

5-6 p.m. and 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Learn how to cook several heart-healthy Italian dishes and sample the tasty meals.

St. John’s Women’s Health Forum: Stress and Your Heart

St. John’s Hammons Heart Institute Auditorium, 1235 E. Cherokee.

 

Stress is a normal part of life.  How you cope is what’s important to your health. The region’s  only female cardiologist, Lakshmi Parvathaneni, M.D. will share the physical effect of stress on the heart and Kathy Le Mon, Psy.D, will discuss the emotional and mental health aspects affecting the heart.  St. John’s Women’s Heart Center will also provide tools to help reduce stressful events.

sT. jOHN’S – Lebanon HERITAGE fOUNDATION hosts Ladies night out
4-7 p.m.

Feb. 19, 2009

Kenneth E. Cowan Civic Center, Lebanon

 

St. John’s Hospital – Lebanon and will host the second annual Ladies Night Out health and wellness event to celebrate heart month. The free event is open the public will feature more than 50 displays and demonstrations from the hospital, local organizations and area businesses. Women may also participate in reduced-price screenings, free cardio dance lessons and cooking demonstrations.  There will be more than 50 door prizes and a grand prize drawing at the end of the evening. Last year, more than 900 women attended the event.

 

No reservations are needed to attend, but women are encouraged to go online to learn more about this fun-filled evening at www.stjohnslebanon.com.

St. John’s Heart of a Women Support Group

Women of all ages who have been affected by heart disease are invited to join us once a month for a special time of encouragement and reflection. Share your journey with others and be strengthened by their experiences.
