MARK GRANTHAM
SPEAKING AT LASIK SEMINAR

Mark Grantham, a
26-year-old quadriplegic who recently received
LASIK surgery will be
speaking at the
St. John’s LASIK
seminar on March 26.
After an accident at his
church’s local day camp, Grantham relied on family members and home health
aids to put his glasses on and put his contacts in. Unable to live
independently, Grantham was granted LASIK surgery in May by
St. John’s Foundation for Community Health and was
able to see without the assistance of others.
Since the surgery Grantham
now enjoys 20/15 vision and has a new outlook on life. He will be speaking
at the informative LASIK seminar and would like to share his experiences and
how his life has changed since having the surgery. The seminar will allow
you to express any questions or concerns you might have as well as talk with
professionals, and watch a live LASIK procedure.
Dr. Shachar Tauber will
also be at the seminar to talk further about the procedure and answer any
questions. Dr. Tauber is a Trusted LASIK Surgeon,
which means he is among the top 1% of all refractive surgeons in the United States
based on professional credentials and accomplishments according to Trusted
LASIK Eye Surgeons.
About LASIK
LASIK is the
most common laser surgery for correcting nearsightedness and astigmatism.
During this outpatient procedure a small flap is made in the cornea and some
of the tissue exposed by the flap is removed. This process is done very
carefully and accurately without damaging nearby tissues. Each eye takes
between 10-15 minutes and the entire procedure takes up to 2 hours. After
surgery you may experience irritation or scratchiness and your eyes may
water a lot. Recovery is usually quick and you will be able to return to
your normal activities within a few days after the surgery.
So far LASIK
has been reported to be very effective in reducing mild to moderate
nearsightedness. Almost everyone notices improvements in their vision, but
not everyone will receive perfect 20/20 vision. Long term effects of LASIK
are still being studied, and doctors are continuing to improve their
techniques. If you are considering LASIK surgery discuss this with your
doctor to see if it is the best solution for you.
