St. John’s hosts grand opening for new sports medicine facility

St. John’s Sports Medicine will host a grand opening celebration 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 at the newly expanded facility, at the corner of Fremont and Seminole in Springfield.

Tours will follow a brief ceremony and ribbon cutting at 5 p.m.

The facility was expanded by 6700 square-feet and includes advanced treatment and rehabilitation space, spacious waiting area, ten deluxe exam rooms, special exam rooms for casting and customized orthotics and new diagnostic equipment.

Other innovations include the region’s only SwimEx rehabilitation pool, and a new gym area with space for indoor throwing, batting and plyometrics.

“Our commitment is to provide the region’s most advance sports medicine services and return patients to their normal activities as quickly and safely as possible,” said Brian Mahaffey, MD, St. John’s Sports Medicine Medical Director.

St. John’s Sports Medicine partners with Missouri State University to offer medical coverage of games and tournaments, community outreach and education, in addition to treatment and rehabilitation.
