Pam Cygal named St. John’s St. Francis Hospital co-worker of the year

Respiratory Therapy Manager Pam Cygal was chosen as the 2004 Co-Worker of the Year at St. John’s -St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View.

Cygal has been a manager at St. John’s -St. Francis Hospital for 7-1/2 years. She was chosen as a Co-Worker of the Month in July 2004 and that made her eligible for the annual award. Ballots were distributed to co-workers in their paychecks and they were asked to cast a vote for the person they felt best exemplifies Mercy Service at St. John’s St. Francis Hospital.

Nominators had the following comments on the monthly nomination form:

“Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful – what more can be said? She is very professional with staff and visitors alike,” one nominator commented.

Another comment was that “dedication is Pam’s great attribute. Besides her managerial duties she serves on numerous committees and is the leader of the Mercy Service Team.”

“I have been impressed with Pam’s total awareness of each patient,” said President Donald Swafford. “She is a great example of Mercy Service as she applies both clinical and spiritual skills and values in her assessment of her clients. She is a team player with quality patient care and outcomes as her goals. I can easily say she is an asset to the St. John’s St. Francis team.”

Cygal was recognized at the annual Christmas Luncheon held Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004 for hospital co-workers and volunteers. She received an engraved plaque of appreciation, a special gift and the honor of a reserved parking space near the door for the next year.

The Co-Worker of the Year and of the Month is awarded by the Mercy Service Team from nominees gathered from co-workers and volunteers each month. For more information about Mercy Service or St. John’s -St. Francis Hospital, call 417-934-7078.
