Chronic pain interferes with work, social
activities and family life.Chronic pain is
defined as pain lasting greater than six weeks. It may be brought on by a
traumatic event such as surgery an automobile accident, work injury or even
an abusive event. Other factors may not be easily identified and may require
a team approach to help establish a proper treatment plan.
Many pain disorders are complicated by other
medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, high blood
pressure and others. Individual lifestyle adjustments and active
participation in the treatment plan are critical elements in managing
chronic pain disorders.
