Free database
trials: CINAHL and Nursing Reference Center from Ebsco (posted 4/24/2008)
The Medical Library currently
provides co-workers
access to the CINAHL database, Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health
Literature, via the Ovid
search platform. Beginning in January 2009, access to CINAHL via Ovid
will no longer be available. Access to the CINAHL database will only be
available from the
Ebsco search platform. The Medical Library is currently
finalizing purchase details with Ebsco. The Medical Library plans to begin
providing access to CINAHL via Ebsco on or before January 2009.
A free trial of CINAHL via Ebsco has
been established through June 30, 2008 to give searchers experience with the new
search platform. In addition to
CINAHL, the trial also includes access to Ebsco's
Nursing Reference Center. St. John's co-workers are welcome to
participate in this free trial. Please forward any comments or
questions about these database products to
Holly Henderson, Medical Library
Director, 417-820-3253.
CINAHL access will continue to be
available via Ovid for the remainder of 2008. Co-workers that do not have an
Ovid login and password may contact a Medical Librarian for assistance at
417-820-2795.

Trying to
email the library staff? (posted 4/15/2008)
Due to an error by St. John's MISD
the Medical Library's general email account,
libstaff@mercy.net, was unavailable for a short time during the last week of
March. People sending messages to this account received a reply email stating
the email address could not be found. The email account is active again and
available for use.
The library staff has realized that
some people are still having trouble sending emails to this account. This is due
to the libstaff@mercy.net email
receiving a slightly different name in the St. John's Outlook email directory
when MISD reestablished the account. You may need to manually enter
libstaff@mercy.net a few times until
your Outlook address book "remembers" the new name and does not default to the
old name. When you manually enter
libstaff@mercy.net your Outlook directory should find the name .SPRG_MED
Library. Please contact a medical librarian if you need assistance or have
questions.
