Tireless efforts of St. John's physicians, co-workers and volunteers make
No. 1 ranking possible
Welcome
to the spring 2007 edition of Healthy People magazine.
You may have recently heard the news that St. John’s was named No. 1
among integrated health care networks in the U.S. in the 2007
Verispan IHN (Integrated Health Care Networks) 100. The ranking
appeared in the Feb. 5, 2007 issue of Modern Healthcare magazine.
Integrated networks like St. John’s are able to provide patient care
in a coordinated manner – sharing quality standards, information,
expertise and technology that are difficult to provide alone. This
coordination of health care processes helps save lives and reduce
the cost of health care.
In the last few years, St. John’s has steadily climbed the IHN 100
list, moving from No. 62 in 1999 to 15th in 2006 and then to No. 1
in 2007.
The commitment and teamwork of our physicians, co-workers and
volunteers allow us to provide high-quality and efficient health
care to our community, and we thank them for their hard work and
dedication. Please turn to page 4 to read the full story.
Spring is in the air, and so is allergy season. On page 6, St.
John’s board-certified allergist, Greg Lux, M.D., shares valuable
tips on how to combat – and even cure – those miserable allergies.
As part of St. John’s master construction plan to renovate
facilities on our main campus, the new St. John’s Breast Center
opened in St. John’s Cancer Center in January. The new center boasts
more space, convenient parking and proximity to resources available
at the cancer center. See page 5 for more information about this
beautiful new patient-centered facility.
Getting plenty of quality, restful sleep is important for everyone,
but may be most important for St. John’s littlest patients. On page
18, you can read about how St. John’s Children’s Specialty Clinic
recently expanded its services to include a comprehensive children’s
sleep disorders clinic.
Thanks for picking up this issue of Healthy People magazine, and
best wishes for a happy, healthy Ozarks spring and summer.
Sincerely,
Kim Day
St. John’s Health System President / CEO
