Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of injury and death for teens. It is no surprise to hear that teen drivers and their passengers are the leading population admitted to St. John’s Trauma Center, Springfield’s only Level I Trauma Center.

In an effort to reduce the number of teens injured or killed in traffic crashes, St. John’s/Kohl’s Injury Prevention Center is pleased to offer a new teen driving program.

With start-up funds from Kohl’s Department stores and the Kohl’s Cares for Kids Program, St. John’s now has five certified driving instructors on staff. The instructors, certified to teach driver’s education through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, provide one-on-one behind-the-wheel instruction.

Parents can get involved in the learning process, too. Teens enrolled in the program will receive a take home study course to complete with their parents in between driving lessons.

The program is designed to offer an alternative driver education program to those who do not have access to a traditional driver’s education course, or who need additional driver training.

Packages start with six hours of driving at $225. Customized packages are available for as many hours as you like. We offer packages for up to 40 hours of driving.

Registration is now open. For more information, please e-mail pamella.holt@mercy.net or call 417-820-7233.
