Medical

Life Line's medical team is comprised of paramedics and registered nurses specially trained in rapid air medical transport. A paramedic and nurse are on each flight.

Neonatal Transport Team

St. John’s Children’s Hospital Level III Newborn Intensive Care Unit maintains a highly skilled specially trained Neonatal Transport Team.

Critically ill infants are cared for by a team of neonatologists, Neonatal Intensive Care transport nurses, and respiratory therapists. Emergency air or ground transport is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in conjunction with St. John’s Life Line and St. John’s EMS.

Flight

The flight team is comprised of eight pilots with more than 95 years and 36,000 flight hours combined experience. Each pilot works 12-hour shifts. Each pilot undergoes yearly training and flight physical by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The flight crew education includes advanced skills and critical care training, regular in-services and continuing education requirements in addition to advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), basic and advanced trauma life support (BTLS), (ATLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), neonatal resuscitation program (NRP), certified emergency nurse (CEN), trauma nurse core course (TNCC), and most paramedics are critical care emergency medical technician paramedics (CCEMT-P).

Communication Specialists

St. John's Life Line communication specialists are responsible for receiving and coordinating the flow of information and services necessary for the efficient operation of Life Line Air. All are skilled emergency medical dispatchers and are trained in flight operations, including radio communications, navigational and map usage, weather briefing, flight following, and data base management.

Administration

Life Line's administrative support team includes a program director, flight nurse supervisors (base managers), education and outreach coordinator as well as an administrative vice president.
