Many physician specialists will be involved in your
cancer diagnosis, treatment and care.
It is not uncommon for patients to be
referred by their primary care physician for diagnostic testing or
treatments which will be interpreted or performed by radiologists,
pathologists and surgeons.
The location of the cancer or the complexity
of it may require that your doctor refer you to see other specialists
(cardiologist, cardiothoracic surgeon, dermatologist, gastroenterologist,
neurologist, neurosurgeons, otolaryngologists, reconstructive surgeon, etc.)
at some point.
Your time with these physicians is usually
limited to a few visits (or less).
