Cardiologists subspecialize in diseases of the
heart, lungs and blood vessels and manage heart conditions such as heart
attacks and life-threatening irregular heart rhythms.
If you have symptoms such as shortness of
breath, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and/or a history of heart
disease, you may be referred to a cardiologist. Cardiologists perform
diagnostic procedures such as cardiac catheterization and consult with
surgeons on heart surgery.
