Trauma Research
.................................................................................................................................................

St. John’s Teaching and Research (STAR) is maintained under the direction of Roger Huckfeldt, M.D. (director,Trauma Program Manager), Kathryn Patterson, (Certified Clinical Research Professional), Cindy Lowe and volunteer personnel from select departments within St. John’s Health System. STAR focuses on clinical research in the areas of Trauma, Burn and Critical Care.

Projects include treatment trials utilizing new and/or modifying current medical devices/supplies, case studies and retrospective chart reviews which will identify means to help reduce health care costs as well as develop more efficient treatment methods for improved overall patient care.

Access to the State Trauma Registry allows STAR the capability to evaluate data on patients admitted to St. John’s Trauma Center. STAR is available to all physicians and health care providers within our system to assist in practical research projects. STAR has joined efforts with medical supply companies and works in collaboration with universities and research centers nationwide.

Those participating or interested in a clinical research project should contact Cindy Lowe, CCRP, at (417) 820-6130.
